
JOB DESCRIPTION
Meadowlark Aircraft’s (www.macnd.com) technical team is seeking a part-time Electrical Signal Engineer Intern to support the development of innovative unmanned aerial systems. In this role, you will design, develop, and implement a homing beacon system for landing drones on moving platforms. You will define telemetry sub-system requirements, select appropriate components, capture remote beacon signals via on-board sensors, and integrate the homing signal into the aircraft’s control system. At project completion, you will demonstrate the system’s efficacy by safely landing one of Meadowlark’s Group 2 UAS aircraft on a platform moving at a minimum speed of 15 miles per hour.

Located in Grand Forks, ND—the epicenter of the drone industry—Meadowlark designs, manufactures, and markets customizable (bespoke) unmanned aerial systems. We focus on long-endurance, mid-size vertical-take-off-and-landing solutions and provide a comprehensive array of products and services that span the entire aircraft production and maintenance lifecycle. This position is offered in partnership with the InternGF program and runs from September 8 through December 19. The role is part-time (10 hours/week), with a wage range of $20–$30/hour. Application materials include a resume and optional short cover letter.

The ideal candidate
↦ is a junior or senior in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines
↦ has a strong understanding of electrical signal design and integration
↦ possesses excellent problem-solving, technical, and communication skills
↦ can work closely with Meadowlark’s systems engineering and manufacturing teams
↦ is comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and must successfully pass a background check and drug testing for prohibited substances as defined by Federal regulations.
